This slower-paced session helps you strengthen your abdomen, hips and back for better balance, stability and posture. This is an essential part of injury prevention and long-term agility.

A fundamental part of corrective exercise is to restore the optimal functioning of muscles as they act on joints. The cumulative effect of stress and injury leads to adhesions (tender spots), tightness, limitations, and pain in the muscle and surrounding fascia. Corrective SMR seeks to release adhesions through targeted pressure, static stretching and active stretching. These adhesions can cause direct or referred pain. A key step is to apply this technique BEFORE engaging in moderate activity or exercising.
A slower paced form of exercise that works on gentle body postures or movements. These movements can be standing, sitting, reclining, slightly inverting, twisting and balancing. Modifications are given to accommodate abilities and limitations. Stretching of the muscles, a focus on breathing and mediation all help to give a sense of mental calmness and relaxation.
Yoga is a great way to strengthen and stretch the muscles while calming the mind. This class is for yoga practitioners that want a more challenging practice. We will flow through a variety of yoga poses (both seated and standing). If you are new to yoga, try the Gentle Yoga class first. Modifications will be offered to accommodate all levels.
Using resistance bands versus traditional weights can increase muscle tone while taking it easy on the joints. The full-body workouts will help to strengthen muscles needed for good posture, better range-of-motion and a stable core. For a modest $50 investment, you can have a full set of resistance bands which gives you a home gym in one small bag.

Work on muscle imbalances (tight and weak muscles) that can decrease your range-of-motion and restrict joint mobility. Relieving imbalances reduces joint pain and stiffness and gives you more energy throughout the day because your body isn't working against limitations. Be a regular in this class to discover how to move more freely and enjoyably.
